SHERIFF’S OFFICE INVESTIGATES ARMED ATTACK NEAR ORANGE CITY

Two men and a woman were assaulted in their home near Orange City early Tuesday morning by two men wielding handguns. Multiple shots were fired, but no one was hit. The two male victims were battered while the suspects demanded to know where any valuables in the home were. The suspects then left, apparently empty-handed. The victims then drove themselves to Florida Hospital Fish Memorial in Orange City for treatment of their injuries. The Sheriff’s Office is hoping that a reward of up to $12,000 will prompt anyone with knowledge about this or any other Volusia County home invasion to come forward.

The attempted robbery happened at 1199 19th Street at approximately 12:40 a.m. The two suspects forced their way into the home and battered Manuel Izquierdo, 26, and Jeffrey Teschner, 29. Also in the house was Kyrenia Manos, 26, who told deputies that she could hear the suspects battering Teschner and she also heard multiple gunshots before the suspects finally fled. It’s not clear at this time if the suspects took anything from the house. All three victims then went to the hospital where deputies met with them.

The suspects were described as black men wearing all black and had their faces covered. One was about 5’9” tall and had a stocky build. The other was skinnier and between 6’ and 6’3”. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact investigator Greg Seymour (386) 668-3830 or Crime Stoppers of Northeast Florida, toll-free, at 1-888-277-TIPS.  Callers to Crime Stoppers will remain anonymous and can qualify for a reward of up to $1,000.

Additionally, the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office has posted a $10,000 reward for tipsters who help authorities solve any home invasion in the county, and the New Smyrna Beach Police Department pledged an additional $1,000. In order to qualify for the reward money, persons with information regarding any unsolved home invasion must call the Crime Stoppers’ toll-free tip line. If the tip leads to an arrest, the caller will be eligible for an initial reward through Crime Stoppers of up to $1,000. If the arrest results in a conviction, the caller will be eligible for up to $11,000 more in reward money.
