NEW SMYRNA BEACH LIBRARY OFFERS
FREE COMPUTER CLASSES

The New Smyrna Beach Regional Library will offer six free computer classes in September to help beginners learn the basics.

Computer Basics will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 3 and 24. This class is for people with little or no computer experience who want to learn about the components of a computer and get acquainted with terminology. Participants will explore some of the functions and features of the Windows operating system.

Excel Basics will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 6. This class introduces basic Excel concepts and terminology and explains elements of the Excel screen. Demonstrations will include entering data and working with cells, rows and columns.

Microsoft Word begins at 5 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 11. Participants will learn the fundamentals of the word processing program. Topics will include menus and toolbars, wizards, spell-check, copy/cut/paste, saving Word art, and adding graphics.

Internet Basics will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 13. Attendees will learn about the Internet and become familiar with terminology. They also will acquire basic skills to access and navigate web sites, including search engines and online directories.

Internet Searching will be at 5 p.m. Monday, Sept. 15. The instructor will explain the web browser Internet Explorer and features such as favorites, homepage, font size and internet options.

E-mail and attachments will be explained at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 27. Participants will learn how to get a free e-mail address, compose messages, and add pictures and documents.
