JUNIOR MASTER GARDENER PROGRAM STARTS AUG. 4

Children looking to cultivate their green thumbs can sign up for a new junior master gardener program offered by the University of Florida/Volusia County Extension and Volusia County Farm Bureau.

The program, for children entering fourth and fifth grades, will be offered Aug. 4 - 8 at the Agricultural Center, 3100 E. New York Ave., DeLand.

Activities will include making plantable greeting cards, discovering critters in composting, taffy and jam making, reading food labels, corsage designing, and preparing healthy snacks.

The cost is $50 per child. Preregistration is required and may be made by calling Karen Stauderman or Laura Cash at (386) 822-5778 in DeLand, (386) 257-6012 in Daytona Beach, or (386) 423-3368 in New Smyrna Beach.
